SC Healthy Family Formation Coalition E-News!

Parents, let’s not become likeMassachusettswhere parents with children in public schools have no choice about sex education content.

Most parents and teens want instruction on how to avoid risky behaviors, rather than simply reduce the risks while indulging in the behaviors.  Few responsible parents would tell their children to drink a little, smoke a little, try drugs, and hang out with those that do. The dangers are just too great to flirt with risky behaviors!

Ask for Heritage Keepers® in your schools.

Call or write your school administrators today!

So-called lack of time takes it’s toll on our children…

Some administrators claim that they do not have time for the Heritage Keepers® program in their middle and high schools. Yet, State Law requires that schools set aside 750 minutes for sex education with a strong emphasis on abstinence. The Heritage Keepers® program is 450 minutes.  Do the math.

Is it time or is it ideology?

In fact, Heritage Keepers® ‘takes up’ less than 1% of the annually required 64,800 minutes classroom instruction time.  With all of the sexual messages bombarding our children every day, don’t you think they need to hear about the benefits of abstinence from educators that believe it?

It was not until Heritage Keepers® abstinence education began operating in 1996, that SC teen pregnancy rates plummeted 35% for the 15-17 year olds.  Nothing else changed!  The condoms-only ‘safer’ sex messages continued side-by-side throughout the same time period.

So, is the issue really time constraints or is it fear, intimidation and censorship due to Heritage Keepers® astounding results?

A year after the Heritage Keepers® program,

the program students were

HALF (50%) AS LIKELY TO INITIATE

SEXUAL ACTIVITY

as similar non-program students.

Where else can one find such a tremendous return on an investment of time!  Shouldn’t all middle and high school students receive the Heritage Keepers® program each and every year to maintain and reach their goals?

Integrity: A Heritage Keepers® Character Quality

“Integrity is the quality of being undivided,

so that all my actions, attitudes, and thoughts

are consistent and integrated.

When what I say matches what I think,

do, and feel, I have integrity.”

The South Carolina Healthy Family Formation Coalition (SC HFF Coalition) is organized and staffed by Heritage Community Services. The SC HFF Coalition promotes child and family well-being by providing opportunities for statewide communication about such issues as: adolescent pregnancy, unwed childbearing, fatherlessness, sexual exploitation of our youth, dating violence and domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, gang activity and youth violence.

Coalition members support healthy family formation initiatives that integrate character-based life skills, teen pregnancy prevention with an emphasis on abstinence-centered education, and the importance of fidelity-within-marriage.

Together we can impact our culture so that forming healthy families becomes a norm, rather than the exception, for South Carolina.

Please, forward this E-News to interested friends, family and colleagues and ask them to consider joining the Coalition.
