Stand Up for Heritage Keepers in Charleston

Next Monday, June 28, 2010, the Charleston County School Board will vote to discontinue Heritage Community Services' optional character-based, abstinence education program from our schools. Heritage has served thousands of CCSD students free of charge with great results for over a decade.

Please support allowing our students and their parents to choose abstinence education by signing the petition below. Any taxpayer can sign the petition!  Signatures from the Lowcountry are needed but, also statewide will send a strong message.

Thank you!  Copy and paste the link below into your web browser.  It’s Free and Easy!

Social issues vs. fiscal issues
by Phyllis Schlafly

Posted: June 16, 2010 on World Net Daily © 2010

The media are forever trying to create a division in the Republican Party between those who care most about so-called social issues and those who want priority for fiscal issues. Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels is the most recent politician to fall into this trap by asserting that the next president "would have to call a truce on the so-called social issues."

The truth is that social and fiscal issues are locked in a political and financial embrace that cannot be pried apart. Those who emphasize runaway government spending and out-of-control debt and deficits must face the fact that those trillions of dollars are being spent by government on social problems.  Keep reading…

Johnson County backs out of pregnancy-prevention grant

A $300,000 grant to fight teenage pregnancy was rejected Thursday by the Johnson County Commission after it had approved it by a slim margin May 20.

Commissioners objected to Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri, an abortion provider, being the lead organization in the federal grant.  More…

The South Carolina Healthy Family Formation Coalition (SC HFF Coalition) is organized and staffed by Heritage Community Services. The SC HFF Coalition promotes child and family well-being by providing opportunities for statewide communication about such issues as: adolescent pregnancy, unwed childbearing, fatherlessness, sexual exploitation of our youth, dating violence and domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, gang activity and youth violence.

Coalition members support healthy family formation initiatives that integrate character-based life skills, teen pregnancy prevention with an emphasis on abstinence-centered education, and the importance of fidelity-within-marriage.

Together we can impact our culture so that forming healthy families becomes a norm, rather than the exception, for South Carolina.

Please, forward this E-News to interested friends, family and colleagues and ask them to consider joining the Coalition.
