Parents in the Know

Parents are the first line of defense in teaching their children about dating, friendships, peer pressure, goals, marriage, and life.

Despite what pop culture – and sometimes your own children – may say, young people today are especially looking to parents to find the emotional, intellectual, and moral fortitude they need to live content and successful lives.

So how do you, as a parent, do this? It all starts with communication.

Before you start dictating what your children will and will not do, open up to them. Begin the conversation. Simply talk with your children. Know that they’re experiencing. Let them know what you think. Share with them how you feel.

To become a “Parent in the Know”, you have to embrace the fact that children are looking for encouragement. Just like you encouraged that little infant to believe he could walk… to get up when even when he fell… your encouragement of your children will last for an eternity.

Encouragement is a vital tool to help develop and prepare our children to become men and women of good character.

Heritage Community Services provides Parent Education training to get parents “in the know.” Our training not only helps parents in their homes, but in their communities as well, encouraging them form a support network for all of the children in their community.
