Can I review a copy of the curriculum before enrolling my child in the Heritage program?
All teaching and evaluation materials are submitted to the appropriate school/agency/institution authorities for approval by their designated officials in accordance with local, state and federal laws and guidelines. Parents/guardians should contact their school/agency/institution to ask for an opportunity to review the curriculum and to opt their child in or out of the program. The Heritage curriculum can also be reviewed in the Heritage Corporate Office by appointment.

If my child's school uses the Heritage program, will my child automatically be enrolled in the program?
Heritage believes that parents/guardians should be fully informed when their minor children will be learning about sex. Permission forms are distributed to parents/guardians at least two weeks prior to the beginning of an adolescent program. These forms describe the content and purpose of the program and surveys, risks and benefits, procedures, the extent of confidentiality, who to contact for questions, and that participation is voluntary. The parent/guardian is informed that Heritage will not release personally identifiable information about their child except as required by law (mandated reporting of abuse). The parent/guardian has the option of not allowing their child to participate in the program and/or take the surveys. Though Heritage prefers active consent, authorities over the site decide whether permission forms are active or passive.

My child's school does not currently offer the Heritage program. How can I get the Heritage program there?
If your child attends a public school, find out if the curriculum is approved in the school district. If not approved, write a letter to the school board asking that Heritage be placed on the approved list. When it is approved in the district or if your child attends a private school, contact the school’s principal asking that Heritage be offered at the school. Heritage representatives would be happy to work with you to make sure that your child receives the Heritage program. Please contact Heritage@HeritageServices.org so we can begin working with you!

I'd like to talk to my teens about abstinence. Do you have a resource for parents?
Heritage has created a parent book that empowers parents to teach their children how to abstain from sex titled Sex, Lies and Hook-Ups: A Parent’s Guide for Fighting Back. Visit sexliesandhookups.com and watch the video for more information! All proceeds from the sale of this book go back into Heritage programs.
