Heritage abstinence education is...
offered to, not forced on, any school or community group. Our involvement is by invitation only and requires active parental consent.
- taught only 450 minutes covering abstinence/life skills components
- supplemental to the Comprehensive Health Education and separate in compliance with the law
- does not compete with Contraception Education, but does provide a compelling medically accurate message to encourage students to abstain from sexual activity until marriage.
- provides school districts compliance with the law that emphasizes abstinence until marriage. (Currently, comprehensive sex ed curricula has contains only 5% of abstinence instruction with NO guidelines for helping teens know when and how long to wait. Marriage is not promoted in comprehensive sex ed curricula, leaving the implication that kids should abstain until they feel it is OK not to abstain.)
- what parents want according to the national and statewide surveys.
